Mona Lisa: Beyond the Glass

Mona Lisa: Beyond The Glass is the Louvre Museum’s first VR experience for the general public, and it was created as part of the museum’s seminal Leonardo da Vinci exhibition, which marks the 500th anniversary of the artist’s death in France. Through Virtual Reality, this online exhibition shows the most recent scientific research on da Vinci’s artistic creativity and painting methods and processes.

COVID-19 forced the Louvre’s gallery to close along with the rest of the museum. I love the concept. The Louvre made the VR experience open to all around the world by uploading it to the Google and Apple App Stores. This software works well with a Google Cardboard VR headset, but it can also be used without one. I wish it had been a bit longer and provided us with a better understanding of the art and its past or timeline.

Download it here and let me know what you think!

The Vincent Van Gogh Immersive Experience – St Mary’s Church, Castlegate, York

Described as A “360 degree journey into the Universe of a Genius.”

The Vincent Van Gogh experience is nothing like I’ve experienced before, sitting in St Mary’s Church in York with the stories and the work of Van Gogh being projected around the walls, roof and floor of the church is absolutely breathtaking and mesmerising.

I am unsure now due to COVID-19 if the Virtual Reality Experience is available, but when I went I managed to have a go and as strange as this sounds I feel like I have met Van Gogh. Go ahead call me strange!

The VR experience shows you around the town Van Gogh grew up around Arles and Provence. Telling you the story of his life and the story’s behind the paintings, setting the scene I really felt like I was there! It’s an unforgettable experience and I highly recommend.

I have attached videos and photos to this blog post but they really don’t do the experience justice. If you do go make sure to wear your mask and keep your distance!

Tickets are £13.00 but absolutely worth it, the experience is on until February 2021, so lots of time to experience this. You can book tickets here:
